In accordance with Federal Law and US Department of Agriculture policy, Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, or religion.

APPLICATION PROCESS

A $500 non-refundable deposit holds your child’s place on the trip of his/her choice while you complete the application process at Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development. We ask that admissions paperwork be completed within one week of your application date, or you may lose your child’s spot on their preferred trip. We require an application for summer, health history, confidential parent questionnaire, and a camper questionnaire from all of our campers. For new international campers, we also require a phone and/or Skype interview. For International Groups, please contact info@campkahili.org Completed applications will be carefully reviewed on a first-come, first served basis, and you will be notified about your child’s official acceptance to Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development within 2-3 days. We intentionally limit the size of our program, enrollment is limited. Please submit your application early to ensure a place on the trip of your choice.

PAYMENT

The $500 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of application submission and is applied to the full cost of the program. There is also a 2% registration fee that is due at the time of the deposit. Balance due must be paid on or before Friday, June 14, 2019. Applications received after June 14, 2019, should be accompanied by the $500 deposit; full payment will be due upon acceptance. We gladly accept personal checks and e-checks (we’ll need your bank’s routing number and your checking account number). We also accept Visa and Mastercard. Payment plans can be arranged on an individual basis.

CANCELLATION POLICY

  1. If a camper cancels before June 14th due to medical reasons that can be fully documented with a physician’s written explanation, a full refund will be sent to the participants.
  2. If a camper cancels for any other reason before June 14th, a full refund will be sent to the participant, less the application deposit.
  3. If a camper cancels after June 14th due to medical reasons that can be fully documented with a physician’s written explanation a refund may be sent to the participant, less the $500 application deposit.  
  4. If a camper cancels for any other reason after June 14th, a 50% refund of the full program fee may be returned on a case by case basis.
  5. Campers canceling within two weeks of the start of the session are not eligible for a refund with the exception of documented medical reasons.  For medical reasons, the program fee will be returned less the application deposit. Written documentation must be submitted within 10 days of cancellation.  
  6. Approved refunds will be mailed to the camper’s home address via check.

By payment of any sum to Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development, you are acknowledging your agreement to the terms and Conditions of Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development as described herein.

Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development’s EXPECTATIONS

It is the camper’s responsibility to bring a safety-conscious mindset; a desire to try new things, challenge themselves and have a good time; a willingness to participate fully; a willingness to help with group chores and tasks; and a willingness to care for themselves and others. While some trepidation is quite normal, we expect from each camper a positive and unselfish attitude and a desire to be a part of a close community of friends. Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development trips are physically and mentally challenging. Campers have a responsibility to be physically prepared by getting in good physical condition before their trip. By signing the camper expectations and the parent consent form, campers agree they will abide by these expectations. We reserve the right to send a camper home who cannot meet the physical requirements of the trip, or who, in our judgment, does not meet our expectations for demonstrating safe actions or good behavior. The camper will be flown home immediately; all additional travel expenses are the responsibility of the parent, and no refund of any type will be granted.

COMMUNITY EXPECTATIONS

Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development maintains very high standards because we act as temporary guardians for your child. Any action by a camper that jeopardizes his/her safety or the safety of other campers does not meet with our community expectations and may result in removal from camp. No one camper’s actions (in the leaders’ judgment) will be permitted to negatively affect the enjoyment of the adventure by other campers. Individual behavior that keeps the group from forming a close community does not meet with our community expectations. Campers must be able to effectively manage their self-care (staying hydrated, eating properly, maintaining appropriate hygiene, etc.); if lack of self-care is repeatedly an issue, a camper may be sent home. If a camper discusses suicide or exhibits signs of self-harm (at the discretion of Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development staff), the camper will be sent home. Illegal acts, bullying, sexual harassment, stealing, sneaking away from the group at night, or other unsafe actions will cause a camper to be sent home. Cabins are never co-ed. Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development programs are 100% alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free. The possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, any vaping device, or any illegal drug is cause for immediate expulsion from the trip. This policy is absolutely non-negotiable. In the unfortunate circumstance that a rule violation should occur, immediate dismissal will result. The camper will be flown home immediately; all additional travel expenses are the responsibility of the parent, and no refund of any type will be granted. Each camper will sign a contract prior to their adventure stating they agree to abide by Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development policies and rules for the duration of the trip.

HEALTH HISTORY/LIABILITY RELEASE

A completed and signed health history and a signed parent/camper agreement must be submitted in order to be considered for official acceptance and enrollment. The health history does not require a physician’s signature, but we do ask parents to be as open and transparent as possible. In lieu of a doctor’s signature, parents take responsibility to tell Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development about any and all health issues. Parents will be required to sign an acknowledgment of risks and a legal liability waiver from Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development, as well as waivers from participating outfitters prior to their child’s participation.

MEDICAL TREATMENT

As temporary trained staff, Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development instructors have the ability to administer first aid to campers, to engage the services of a medical professional, or to hospitalize a camper if deemed necessary. Costs will be the responsibility of parents and/or their insurance company.

ALTERATIONS TO ITINERARY

Severe weather; high or low rivers; unpredictable natural disasters and acts of God; vehicle breakdowns; road closures; volcanic activity; forest fires; illness; any potential threat to safety; or even a brilliant idea from a trip leader or camper may necessitate itinerary changes. In the event of a schedule change, comparable activities will be substituted when possible. You will be notified by email of significant changes.

COMMUNICATION

Campers may bring a cell phone to use at the airport upon arrival, and prior to departure. Each camper will call home upon arrival so parents will know they’ve arrived safely. This call usually takes place after your child has met a Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development Camp Staff, collected his/her bags, and met the other campers. Please expect up to an hour between the time your child’s flight lands and his/her phone call home to you. Cell phones should be turned off during appropriate times to preserve their charge. Because this is a camp, there’s often no cellular service available, and your child may be three to seven days away from a phone. There is often no way for cell phones to be recharged. Parents may not be able to call their child while he or she is on the trip. Though we make every effort to give your child a couple of opportunities to connect with home, the nature of the trip often makes it difficult for us to give you specific updates about your child while at camp. Remember, no news is good news. Parents may contact our Enrollment Specialist if there is an emergency in which a parent needs to reach their child. PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE

While participating in Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development programs, a camper may be photographed or videoed by Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development. By signing the parent/camper agreement, you agree to allow the camper’s photo, video or film likeness, or reproductions thereof made through any media, including electronic media, to be copyrighted and used for any legitimate purpose by Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development or its assigns.

ISLAND ETHICS

Camp Kahili / iLEAD Schools Development is wholly committed to the protection and preservation of the natural environment. We use the most current minimum-impact camping techniques and subscribe to the practices of Leave No Trace. Campers can expect to shower two or three times during their trip. The camp is on a septic system and we will need to limit the amount of water usage. Campers have biodegradable soap and water available to wash up at their campsites.
